Labels for Irish craft breweries

The health warnings, ready for 2028
From 3 September 2028, alcohol sold in Ireland carries a box of at least 60 × 30 mm with a black border: the grams of alcohol and the energy in the container, a pregnancy pictogram, “DRINKING ALCOHOL CAUSES LIVER DISEASE”, “THERE IS A DIRECT LINK BETWEEN ALCOHOL AND FATAL CANCERS” and askaboutalcohol.ie. Switch it on in Advanced and Brewlabel draws it as S.I. 249/2023 lays it out, red and black on white, works the grams out from the strength and the volume, and never makes it smaller. Review tells you when a best before date reaches past that day.
Re-turn on cans
Cans and PET bottles of 150 ml to 3 litres are part of Re-turn, Ireland’s deposit return scheme; glass isn’t. Each needs a GS1 barcode, standing up, with Re-turn’s logo beside it. Brewlabel draws the barcode the right way round and keeps the logo’s room next to it, 12 × 10 mm with 1 mm clear – the logo itself comes from Re-turn once you are registered.
An EU address, best before and batch
Review checks that the label names a food business in the EU – a brewer in Great Britain needs an importer here – and goes through “5.2% vol”, the volume, allergens such as barley, a best before date and a batch number. It also flags “Irish” on a beer brewed somewhere else.
Barcode and a print file
Type your EAN and the barcode is drawn at a size shop scanners read; Review warns you if the can leaves it too little room. Export one label per page at its exact size, with bleed, crop marks and a cut line, for the print shop. You are responsible for the label as the seller – Brewlabel helps you get it right.
