Labels for Australian microbreweries and craft brewers
The 375 ml can above is the start of a label for a beer you sell. Sign in with a free account – it comes with Plus until 31 December – and Brewlabel helps you with what has to be on it in Australia: standard drinks, the pregnancy warning, the 10c refund mark and the file for the print shop.
The pregnancy warning, the right size
Beer above 1.15 % needs the pregnancy warning on every can and bottle. Brewlabel places FSANZ’s own mark – pictogram, signal words and border – at the size the container’s volume asks for, with 3 mm of clear space round it, and Review warns you if anything crowds it or makes it too small.
Standard drinks and the 10c refund
Standard drinks are worked out from the ABV and the volume, to one decimal place, and printed as “Contains approx. 1.4 standard drinks”. On cans and bottles from 150 ml to 3 litres the refund mark carries the national wording, “10c refund at collection depots/points in participating State/Territory of purchase”, beside your barcode. Most states also want each container approved before it is sold.
Best before, lot and your address
Review checks for a best before date (beer needs one unless it keeps two years or more), a lot number, a street address in Australia or New Zealand – not a PO Box – and “Made in Australia”. The alcohol reads “4.8% alc/vol”, the volume “375 mL”, with figures as tall as the can’s size asks for.
Barcode and a print file
Type your EAN and the barcode is drawn at a size shop scanners read. Export one label per page at its exact size, with bleed, crop marks and a cut line, for the print shop. You are responsible for the label as the seller – Brewlabel helps you get it right.
